LipLase
What is LipLase?
Fotona LipLase is a non-invasive laser treatment designed to enhance the lips through collagen stimulation rather than volumization with injectable products. It utilizes Fotona’s laser technology to improve lip fullness, color, texture, and definition with minimal discomfort and no downtime.

Mechanism of Action
LipLase delivers controlled thermal energy to the lip tissue, stimulating fibroblast activity and promoting the production of collagen and elastin. This process results in gradual tissue remodeling and improved structural integrity of the lips.
The treatment is performed in two components:
-
Intraoral application: Laser energy is delivered inside the oral cavity to stimulate collagen contraction and support, contributing to a mild eversion of the lip.
External application: The laser is applied to the surface of the lips to improve texture, smooth fine lines, and enhance the vermilion border.
Indications and Benefits
LipLase is for patients seeking natural lip enhancement without injectables. It is particularly beneficial for:
-
Mild lip volume loss
-
Poor lip definition
-
Fine lines and perioral rhytides (including smoker’s lines)
-
Dehydrated or thinning lips
Clinical benefits include:
-
Subtle increase in lip fullness
-
Improved lip contour and border definition
-
Smoother texture and reduction in fine lines
-
Enhanced hydration and lip tone
Our Approach
Treatment Protocol
A typical treatment course consists of:
-
3 to 4 sessions spaced approximately 4 weeks apart
Maintenance treatments are recommended every 6 to 12 months, depending on patient goals and response.

Recovery and Downtime
LipLase is well tolerated with minimal recovery time. Patients may experience:
-
Apply a lip moisturizer such as Vitamin E, coconut oil, Vaseline or Aquaphor several times a day to minimize peeling
-
Stay hydrated
-
Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy sweating, saunas, and extremely hot showers for 1-2 days after. While light activity is generally fine, preventing sweat and heat buildup is crucial during the first two days to minimize inflammation, swelling, and risk of infection in the treated area.
-
For at least 3 days, avoid pigmented lipsticks, vinegar, and spicy food
Clinical Considerations
Proper patient education is essential. Outcomes are gradual and dependent on collagen remodeling, and results are not equivalent to dermal filler augmentation. LipLase is most effective when incorporated into a comprehensive facial rejuvenation plan.
